Request for Submissions: 25th Anniversary Compilation [CD]

It’s back to 1986, when gas was .89 cents per gallon, Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi and The Bangles were on the Top 10 Music Billboard and the year the San Antonio Current was born. This Fall a flashback party will celebrate 25 years of the San Antonio Current.

We’re taking submissions for the San Antonio Current 25th Anniversary Compilation CD! Our vision? Pull together a selection of the best tracks of music from 1986 by local musicians. The official deadline for track submissions is August 31st, 2011. Free copies of the compilation will be distributed to attendees of the San Antonio Current’s upcoming flashback party.

Requirements:

  • Must be an artist or musician from the San Antonio area.
  • Work must be mainstream, or independent, musical content originally produced during 1986.
  • Your best quality audio recording .mp3 or .wav format.

If you have any questions email localseveneightytwo@gmail.com. We will send a release form to be signed before reproducing any tracks. If you’re interested in participating send a direct URL link to your downloadable single, or snail mail a physical CD with your track to:

City Guide 2011

The San Antonio Current has released their 2011 edition of the annual City Guide. The link above takes you directly to an article spotlighting local record stores. Today, in the office, we’ve been talking about National Record Store Day (April 21st) so it seemed fitting. Either way, back track into the website and don’t forget to pick up your copy of the Current this week before it’s gone.

This is a repost of a message from our Facebook page. Marisela Barrera is the program director for the Main Plaza Conservancy and is organizing Main Plaza’s March events, the Break Time Music series. MPC is now accepting applications for venodrs and gives special rates to students.
